Senet Network-as-a-Service Architecture
Senet’s Network-as-a-Service provides the perfect balance between scalability, functionality and cost, supporting innovative go-to-market models that are changing the way companies and partners across the IoT ecosystem consume and provide connectivity services.
LoRaWAN Features and Benefits
LoRaWAN is Rapidly Becoming the De-Facto Industry Standard for LPWA IoT Networks
Senet’s network is fully compliant with the latest LoRaWAN standards, delivering low power and long-range capabilities for indoor and outdoor applications. The simplicity of LoRaWAN’s global provisioning, long-range coverage and low TCO contrasts the complexity of local area networks (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee) or cellular services that can be prohibitive due to limited range, high power consumption and cost.

With a diverse set of IoT applications characterized by different demands, there is no “one technology fits all” approach to delivering connectivity for all IoT applications. The emergence of Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs), however, is fundamentally changing the IoT landscape. The cost and functionality gap between cellular and local-area networks has created an opportunity for LPWAN technologies, which excel at enabling low power, long range sensor applications where only small amounts of data are required.
The open LoRaWAN specification is a low power, wide area networking (LPWAN) protocol based on LoRa Technology. Designed to wirelessly connect battery operated things to the Internet in regional, national or global networks, the LoRaWAN protocol leverages the unlicensed radio spectrum in the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band. The specification defines the device-to-infrastructure of LoRa physical layer parameters and the LoRaWAN protocol, and provides seamless interoperability between devices.
The ability to provide Firmware Upgrades Over The Air (FUOTA) is critical to several IoT application performance and device lifecycle requirements, including implementing bug fixes, patching security vulnerabilities and supporting new features. FUOTA support provides future-proofing of LoRaWAN deployments and ensures that devices will continue to operate over long lifetimes.
Senet’s FUOTA implementation provides efficient, secure and reliable multicast delivery of binary firmware images to end-devices and is compliant with the specifications and recommendations from the FUOTA Working Group of the LoRa Alliance Technical Committee, specifically the ability to transition the end-device between Class A and Class C modes of operation.
On-demand network expansion based on the unique geographical and application-specific connectivity needs of customers and partners is how IoT will ultimately scale to billions of connected devices. Senet’s Network Planning and Management Services provide everything needed to build and deploy network sites quickly and cost effectively in order to maintain availability and deliver a high quality of service for Internet of Things applications.

The Senet LVN provides rapidly expanding Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) coverage by connecting Network Operator, Application Provider and Radio Access Network (RAN) Provider networks under a cooperative model. LVN participants partner with Senet to deploy LoRaWAN gateways in support of network expansion strategies and IoT application requirements. This investment in the network infrastructure allows participants to share in the revenue generated by all end devices connecting to the Radio Access Network they’ve deployed.
Further streamlining connectivity delivery and management, the Senet LVN supports standardized global device activation and deployment processes, single billing for global device connectivity and cost and connectivity benefits over traditional roaming. In addition, the Senet LVN manages and rates the quality of service delivery for each participant, ensuring a carrier-grade experience.
Of the billions of IoT sensor-enabled devices expected to be connected over the next few years, more than half are estimated to operate using Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs). Designed for sensors and applications that need to send and receive small amounts of data just a few times per hour or maybe only once a day, LPWANs are transforming the way things are monitored and measured and are contributing to a new wave of IoT innovation resulting in solutions and business models that otherwise would not be possible.
IoT is driving advancements across enterprise and industrial markets, and in vertical industries where it has the potential to streamline operations, deliver time and cost savings and create new services. It is also driving global economic and environmental change with new opportunities for innovation enabling businesses and citizens to make the world a better place.
“Together with Senet, we are providing an innovative solution that facilitates advanced metering infrastructure for water utilities, removing the burden of having to deploy and maintain the network infrastructure themselves.”
We are working with hundreds of disruptive businesses to revolutionize their products and operations by delivering standardized low-cost network connectivity where it’s needed, when it’s needed and at the most efficient total cost of ownership. To help you get there, we are creating new operating paradigms, innovative business models and partnering with leading technology and business partners across the IoT ecosystem.
